Service Pack 1

75% of people found this useful

The purpose of this article is to give you an overview of the new functionality, enhancements to existing functionality, and bugs that were fixed in Community Server 2008.5 Service Pack 1 and Evolution 1.0 Service Pack 1.

New Functionality

Embeddable Forum Threads:  Have you ever wanted to have comment-like functionality on a page in your existing website but didn't want to reinvent the wheel when it comes to comments? Well, embedded forum threads give you the ability to embed forum threads into external websites. Embedded forum threads take the comment system one step further because embedded forum threads are tied back to your community site (Community Server/Evolution) so you can carry on the conversation with your community whether you are on your external (non-Community Server/Evolution) website or in your community website (Community Server/Evolution).

Enhanced Functionality

Redesigned Insert Media Dialogue: The Insert Media dialogue has undergone an extensive redesign to make inserting media simpler and more intuitive.

Enabling/Disabling Q & A Functionality At the Forum Level: In Community Server 2008.5 and Evolution 1.0, Q & A settings were an all or nothing proposition so you either enabled it for all forums or not. In Service Pack 1, we've updated the forum settings to allow you to control which forums provide the Q & A functionality.

Navigation Bar: In Community Server 2008.5 and Evolution 1.0, the Navigation Bar settings were embedded in the Header settings for a theme. In Service Pack 1, we've moved the Navigation Bar settings to their own tab so they are easier to access and discover.

Read more about how you can use the Navigation Bar to customize the main navigation links on your site.

We're publishing the docs right now - it will take a few hours to get them all out and linked up.
